Along with the X-windows version there is an
MS-Windows version which has been available for
some time now. I often use it and I've moved
blocks between "native" ColorForth and the
Windows version. I've never used the X-windows
version, but the MS-Windows version maintains
the look and feel of native ColorForth.
That said it raises questions of what kind of
"Windows" apps one would try to write.
Windows versions of Forth are big and
complex because they are designed to write
Windows apps that look like Windows apps.
Windows colorForth has made some moves
that make writing MS-Windows applications
in colorForth somewhat possible including
QWERTY support and the ability to call
DLLs but that still doesn't address things
like mouse support, drop down menus
ect. Well at least not directly. I
guess all of that can be done through
DLL calls.
I guess the real question is what is the
target audience for the applications,
and will the target audience accept a
somewhat different interface?

John M. Drake
