Hiya,

Glad to hear you got some cash in!!

I sent an order through for some chips and as soon as they arrive I'll be
laying out a board for one of them. I'm not that up on this sort of thing,
so I'll be learning as I go along, but I have made some in the past.
What I'm gonna do is print the board out on some acetate and iron it onto a
blank copper board then soak it in some etching solution. I've got it to
work with the 'back print' film from an ALPS printer, but I'm going to try
it with a laser printer to see if the results are any better. The only
drawback is that it will be single layer.
It's going to be fairly 'open plan' for the first board and then I will
tailor it for my 'project'.
I'm not going to add much in the form of support chips initially so that I
can give it a thorough work out.
I'm plopping it on a Eurocard sized board, though I agree that smaller
would be better and hopefully version 2 will be less than half that.

If you let me know what you want from a test board I will make one up and
post the results (I can't find the link of your requirements for a test
board on your site).

I came up with an idea some time ago to raise funds for my project: selling
t-shirts with a screen-grab from a ZX Spectrum game (the game could be
chosen from a massive list). I'd be only too glad to resurrect the idea and
post the initial request to the newsgroup 'comp.sys.sinclair' and say that
the profits will go into funding UltraTechnology to 'test' the chip for the
project (if you want info on the project go to

I wouldn't want you to feel tied to this in any way. I want to help and I
would love to use the chip for the HiSpec.

What you have is a piece of the future. I want to see the future now.

Anyone up for a t-shirt?....!
